The duties of a material handler are the handling of all materials, tools and
equipment as directed by the employer at his shop.
This includes the loading and
unloading of materials and tools on job sites to a central lay down
area or to specific locations for the convenience of workmen, as
directed by the Foreman or Journeyman.
In addition, the material handler will be allowed on the
job site for clean-up. Once on the job site, the material handler shall not
be used to install electrical material or utilization equipment (i.e. switch gear, motor
control centers, transformers, motors, light fixtures, etc.)

This course was specifically developed to assist our program sponsors, helping them to select those who are most likely to succeed in our apprenticeship programs.
The course work uses practical problems with real-world scenarios from the electrical field, allowing the student to apply key mathematical concepts while developing an awareness of basic electrical terms and practices.
The validated testing instrument is a tool to assist in the selection of the very best applicants that have an aptitude matching the specified job performance requirements. They have been developed to assist in the selection of apprentices for the respective apprenticeship programs.

The NIETC Lift Training program certifies students to operate scissor lifts, aerial lifts, reach and standard forklifts. Students will receive classroom instruction and demonstrate proficiency operating each piece of equipment.
After initial training, forklift operators are to have an evaluation of their knowledge and abilities at least once every 3 years.
OSHA does not specify a frequency for aerial lift refresher training, but leaves that up to each employer to evaluate.

Coyne First Aid / Basic Life Support (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training
Course provides certification in basic life support and first aid concepts. The 8 hour initial course provides first aid certification that is good for 2 years and a CPR / AED certification which must be renewed annually.
The NIETC also provides a 4 hour refresher course for students whose cards are not expired past 60 days.The initial course provides 8 hours CEU credit in Oregon and 4 hours in Washington.
